Rob Macdonald’s Bio
Rob Macdonald is a creative business consultant and writer. As the founder of Robroy & Company, LLC, a strategic communications firm, he helps organizations use their stories in ways that inspire their audiences, and drive revenue. Robroy & Company works directly with the CEOs of small businesses to structure and deliver their messages more consistently and effectively.

Originally from Libertyville, Illinois, Rob is a third-generation entrepreneur. His grandfather had an international wool business in Boston. His father developed innovative products for the health care industry in Chicago. And Rob is in strategic communications in Baltimore. His family’s credo is: “Follow your star.”
From 2007-2010, Rob was a partner at EntreQuest, a sales consulting firm. He worked strategically with business owners and leaders nationwide, helping them build, operate and grow their sales teams.
From 1998-2007, Rob was co-founder and president of Smith Content, Inc., a strategic planning and content development firm, helping businesses take their messages online.
Rob is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Champaign, and holds an MFA from Columbia College, Chicago, where he taught in the award-winning Creative Writing Program.
In the community, Rob partnered with his wife Bobbi to co-found Baltimore City’s first public charter school, City Neighbors Charter School (2005). Two more schools followed: City Neighbors Hamilton (2009) and City Neighbors High School (2010).
Rob and Bobbi live in Baltimore City with their 3 school-age children and dog, Goldie.
